CURRICULUM VITAE (Under Construction)

Professional Experience (2020 - today)

Since January 2020 I am developing algorithms for autonomeous driving in the advanced engineering radar perception group of APTIV as Radar Algorithm Expert.


PhD and Professional Experience (2013 - 2019)

From August 2013 to Dezember 2019 I worked as a research associate at the Institut für Informationsverarbeitung at the Leibniz University Hannover. In my PhD thesis, I developed the worldwide first autofocus algorithm for synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which is able to focus arbitrarily moving ships in high quality. This project was done in cooperation with Hensoldt Sensors GmbH (formerly AIRBUS - Defence and Space).

I also did research in the field of automotive radar and designed and built a hardware demonstrator including circuit boards, amplifiers, arduino and signal processing to verify my previously developed theory. The resulting patent application describes my system, which records a 3D map of the vehicle's environment with much higher accuracy than current systems to ensure autonomous driving in the future.

Zudem habe ich auf dem Gebiet des Automotive Radar geforscht und einen Hardwaredemonstrator inklusiv Leiterplatten, Amplifier, Arduino und Signalverarbeitung entwickelt und gebaut um meine zuvor entwickelte Theorie zu überprüfen. Die daraus entstandene Patentanmeldung beschreibt mein System, dass eine 3D Karte der Umgebung des Fahrzeuges aufnimmt und das mit deutlich höher Genaugkeit, als aktuelle Systeme, um autonomes Fahren in Zukunft zu gewährleisten.

Bei den vielen Konferenzbesuchen und Projektbesprechungen habe ich unzähligen Vorträge auf englisch gehalten und meine Präsentationstechniken weiterentwickelt. Ich hatte das Glück die Vorlesung Statistische Methoden der Nachrichtentechnik zu betreuen und Vorlesungen zu halten. Zudem habe ich am Institut 11 Abschlussarbeiten betreut.

Das Institut für Informationsverarbeitung wird geleitet von Herrn Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörn Ostermann und von Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bodo Rosenhahn. Kernkompetenzen des Instituts liegen in Computer Vision, Machine Lerning, künstlichen Intelligenz, Neuronale Netze und Signal Processing. Dadurch habe ich nicht nur  Kompetenzen, sondern auch Erfahrungen in diesen Bereichen erlangt.


Freelancer (2014 - 2018)

After my studies, the opportunity arised to work as a freelancer together with Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Andreas Helfrich-Schkarbanenko from 2014 to 2018. I worked as software engineer on three projects and gained a lot of experience in programming. For the company Geo Exploration Technologies (GET), I wrote a software based on my diploma thesis, which localizes oil fields. In a second project, I wrote a userfriedly software for a tile manufacturer company to design tile patterns automatically.

The most exiting and sucessful project was done in cooperation with the Mint-Kolleg at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. The team developed a software called MATex, which creates for matematical exercises and solutions automatically to practice maths at university. Now, this software can be used by everyone online as webclient. Additionally, we published a book at springer science, where I wrote the part about statistics. I did the work as freelancer in my free time, in the evenings and at the weekends.


Studies and Diploma Thesis (2007 - 2013)

From October 2007 to May 2013 I studied technomathematics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and successfully graduated with the title Dipl.-Math. techn. During this time I specialized in the fields of Inverse Problems, Numerical Analysis, Finite Element Method, Partial Differential Equations, Communications Engineering and Computer Science. My analytical skills, my ability to understand and solve complex problems have grown. I thank the KIT for the hard but extremely good education.

I wrote my diploma thesis in the period from May 2012 to October 2012 at the Institute of Applied and Numerical Mathematics under the supervision of Dr. Andreas Helfrich-Schkarbanenko, now professor at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. I learned a lot from Andreas.


Student Assistent

In addition to my studies, I spent 3.5 years in the IT department of the medical technology company Measure, Check & Control mbH & Co. KG (today Löwenstein Medical). Besides the administration and maintenance of server systems and computers I worked with virtual machines, did the license management and configured UMTS and WLAN routers. The expertise gained in this company and the ability to create and appreciate a very good working atmosphere have helped me over the years.


Social Work

Although it was always clear that I would study mathematics, I wanted to do something completely different after school. So I came to the Delme-Werkstätten gGmbH as part of my voluntary social year (FSJ) with the German Red Cross (DRK). Here, I accompanied people with disabilities in their work and learned to appreciate small pleasures of everyday life.


Sports

I've always loved sports and already at the age of 6 I discovered my enthusiasm for fistball. At the age of 12 nobody could stop me. Additional fitness units and special trainings led to my personal successes, the title of the best player of Germany in the U14 youth, the German Champion in the U16 youth and even 5 international matches for the German national team at the age of 18. Even the participation in the Championsleag with my team was achieved. During my studies in Karlsruhe the times on the fistball field at TSV Karlsdorf became a little less and I played for many years with a great team in the 2nd Bundesliga Men. In Hannover I played at the Turn Klubb Hannover during my PhD time.
Being a leader of a professional team is great. It's amazing to see what a team can achive when everyone pulls together and the weakness of an individual is balanced by the strengths of the team. To know that everyone will give everything in the next few minutes to achieve a common goal and that each individual and all will rise above themselves as a team is indescribable. Fistball is awesome.
From my point of view, teamplayer are an enrichment for every team, no matter for business or private purposes.
